Mónica Mun


She was born in Seville, she began singing at a very early age, as a child singer at the “Escolania Virgen de los Reyes” in Seville Cathedral. She began his musical studies at the “Conservatorio Francisco Guerrero” in that city. She continued his studies at the “Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu” in Barcelona, where she graduated with a Higher Degree in Music in the speciality of Singing with Eduard Giménez and María Soler, obtaining the highest academic marks.

She has a Master’s Degree in Early Music Performance, specialising in Historical Singing at the ESMUC with soprano Marta Almajano. She receives further training from Kurt Widmer in the field of voice technique in motion. She has been taught at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel (Switzerland) by Richard Levitt, Sharon Weller, Dominique Vellard and Evelyn Tubb. She has taken vocal improvement courses with teachers such as C. Mena, J. Smith, Nico van der Meel, D. Mason, F. Cossotto, C. Chausson, Cinthya Sanner, Ana María Sánchez, Nuria Rial and Jordi Domenec. She has been trained in Chamber Music with Professor Guillem Pérez-Quer.

Her repertoire runs from the 1600s to the 21st century. Since 2018 until 2019 she was a member of the 22Strings Quartet (three guitars and voice).

She is a regular soloist with orchestras such as “The Ripieno Consort” and “La Inquietudine” and at the same time she is a soloist with the duo formed with the tiorbista Ferran Pisà and the duo “La Desvelada” with the guitarist Míriam Paretas.

In contemporary music she has premiered works such as Cinq Poèmes de Houellebecq by Daniel Apodaka and is part of the duo “Extremos” with the double bassist Alejandro Fränkel, “La Hora Exquisita” with the flutist José Ignacio Lagos and the “Deuken Ensamble”. In the operatic and theatrical field he has performed Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme by Lully, Dido and Aeneas by Purcell and Doña Francisquita by Amadeo Vives. He has premiered at the Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville the Opera-Circ Renglones Imaginarios and has performed works such as El Misterio de Velázquez, Somnis d’unes nits d’estiu, Cent-vint-i-cinc.

She has been a soprano and founding member of the Opera Choir of the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville. She is a creator and performer of her own shows: Con-Sequenza, in which she unites the seicento, the contemporary and the staging and La Soprano Urbana together with the pianist J.A. Morales. She is an actress with a degree in Dramatic Art and Meisner Technique from Javier Galitó-Cava, forming part of the “Julia Sang Theatre Company”.
